DESIGN

Off The Wall begins by holding meetings between the client and our design and engineering teams to understand their needs and goals. From here, the design team does a thorough study of the neighborhood and environs where a particular store is being built. The entire team now has a rich, varied history to draw on as it begins its expert design solutions.

The next step involves meetings between the design and engineering departments to produce initial 3D models that visualize various design requirements and options.

At its core, value engineering examines every component of a retail project to identify opportunities for improvement without sacrificing quality or customer experience. For supermarkets and big box stores, this means analyzing everything from suspended decor systems to dimensional signage to determine the most cost-effective solutions.

Consider a recent grocery chain project where traditional custom millwork was replaced with engineered modular fixtures. The result delivered the same visual impact and functionality at 30% lower cost, while reducing installation time by two weeks. This approach demonstrates how strategic material selection and manufacturing processes can drive significant savings.

The process involves cross-functional teams evaluating design alternatives, material specifications, and fabrication methods. Engineers work alongside designers to explore options like lightweight composite materials instead of solid wood, or modular construction that reduces both shipping costs and installation complexity.

3D models provide visual assistance in test setups, enabling our engineers to calculate force connections and transfers and then specify the various material options.

FABRICATION

Off The Wall has over a million square feet of fabrication space to operate multiple state-of-the-art printers, various types of computerized panel saws, and a variety of computer-controlled routers. Our engineering team's involvement and direction continue through the fabrication stages, overseeing construction techniques best suited to the client's planned retail experience.

SHIPPING AND INSTALLATION

Shipping at Off The Wall is regularly and reliably handled by our fleet of trucks or by transnational trucking companies with whom we have decades-long relationships. No destination has ever been too far or too remote to mar our on-time delivery record.
